Portaferry and Exploris Co. Down
Portaferry is a small port with traditional shops, pubs and Market Square. It has grown from its beginnings as a centre for fishing and other maritime industries such as shipbuilding and rope making. Portaferry also offers its own collection of antique shops art galleries and gift shops

Portaferry is also home to Exploris, the award-winning Northern Ireland Aquarium, one of the finest in Europe. Housing some of the largest tanks in the United Kingdom. Exploris gives the visitor a divers eye view of the rich and varied marine life of the Irish Sea and Strangford Lough. Including the ever-popular “Touch Tank”, interactive demonstrations and exhibitions there is always something happening at Exploris. It is home to a vast range of Marine life which can be found in Strangford Lough Exploris is open to the public and well worth a visit to learn more about the natural history of the Irish sea and the Strangford Lough area.
