Belleek
Pottery

Situated in the Fermanagh village of the same name,
Belleek Pottery is Ireland's oldest pottery. Established in 1857 the
current Visitors Centre located at the pottery houses a museum
containing examples of pottery made more that 100 years ago, including a
spectacular Centerpiece, winner of the Gold Medal in 1890 at the Paris
Exhibition. A video presentation explains the Belleek process followed by a guided tour of the pottery. It is during this tour that you can learn how the intricate strands of the basketware are woven together using techniques passed down through generations. The pottery sets high standards and right from the outset John Caldwell the founder insisted that there would be no "Seconds" at Belleek, even today only Belleek China of the highest quality leaves the pottery. |
