Miscellaneous
This section just covers those bits of general information I couldn't categorise in any of the other sections.

Legal Drinking & Smoking age
The legal age to purchase Alcohol in Ireland both North and South is 18 however owners of such establishment's owners have the right to refuse admission. Sale of Tobacco is illegal to those under 16 even when buying for an adult i.e. their parent.

Legal Age of Consent
The legal age of consent in N. Ireland is 17 years of age Not 16 as in the rest of the UK. Contraception is readily available in the North of Ireland and in Major towns and cities in the south of Ireland however in southern rural areas it may be difficult to obtain.

Church Services
Ireland is a religious country as a whole irrespective of any perceived religious divide Churches are plentiful and cover both Catholic and Protestant denominations. Although not totally devoid of other forms of worship these are well catered for especially in rural areas
Electricity Supply
Electricity (Mains ) In Ireland runs runs at between 220-240v, at a frequency of 50Hz. Visitors from the US, Japan, or any country which has a 110v system, should not use their own electrical appliances in Ireland, with the exception of some forms of computers, and so forth, which have a switch for both types of voltage.
European countries generally all use the 220v system, or thereabouts. The only issue then, is to find a cheap adapter socket for use with the Irish 3-pin type. The basic rule is: If in doubt... don't! The higher voltage in Europe can be more easily fatal. At the very minimum, expensive personal equipment can be destroyed, or catch fire.
